Target Archery

Wyatt will drop whatever it was he was doing if I mention going to the archery range.

LeeAnn came along to do the picture taking.  She did a great job! In the opening shot she released the shutter less than a second after Wyatt released the shot.

Wyatt has good form.

I'm testing out some new archery tackle. A Hoyt Excel 23" riser and ZR330 30# limbs.  My arrows are 285 grain Easton A/C/C with 80 grain points.  Because the bowstring is new I'm just shooting bare bow off the shelf while the bowstring fibers stretch. It shoots like a dream! Once the brace height settles in I'll worry about an arrow rest and a permanent sight.

  1. Great photos! Looks like a lot of fun! Leaves turning colors out there already? I see a bunch on the ground.

  3. No, the leaves have not started changing yet. The grove of trees we were under have started to drop leaves. Not sure just what kind of trees they are but like Cottonwoods they drop early. The dry summer probably didn't help.

John, it is a fun way to spend time with my son. Even though I don't hunt anymore when the days get cooler and fall comes around I love being out flinging arrows.

  4. I love archery. And great photos, your kid looks excellent, you must be very proud.

In totally un-related news, I am xmas shopping for the Contraption Captain (who is hopefully not reading over my shoulder) and I want to get him some new grips like you got earlier on. Do you still like those? Would they fit a Tour EZ?

  5. Hi Chafed, yes lots of fun! we'll be out until it gets too cold for our bare fingers.

You mean the Ergon grips? Yes I love them I still marvel at how comfortable they are. I've seen guys with them on recumbent handlebars but because your not putting any weight on the bar on a bent I don't see much advantage. I think the bar diamater is standard. If he's got gripshift or brake levers on the bar the ergons would fit.
