My son and I went on a winter hike today. It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We only walked about three miles but not much of it was flat ground.
We only have about two inches of fresh snow so pack boots and wool socks were just right amount of warmth and traction to keep us moving forward and enjoying our day in the woods.
That looks pretty good to me... there are woods nearby that the Rantwick clan haven't visited lately... nice idea.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I failed to mention that this trip was a huge turning point. Normally we walk the hill section out then return on the flat trail along the shoreline.
ReplyDeleteWhen I asked him which way he wanted go on the return leg he said "I actually like the hills so we'll go that way." Wow! and he kept the hammer down the whole way. He's got some long legs and I'm getting a workout just keeping up with him. I'll really be sucking wind in year or two.
Spending time outdoors watching his skill and stamina develop has been something I wouldn't trade for anything.
