They are hidden now in the woods but I've seen pictures of them with their steel doors removed.recumbent conspiracy theoristhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06534820082655384780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265043310556240776.post-66089077208607805102014-01-11T10:52:13.618-08:002014-01-11T10:52:13.618-08:00Many military small arms plants were brick, except...Many military small arms plants were brick, except
where explosives were stored (dirt covered magazines). In areas where primer explosives, tracers and other hazardous mixtures are made and handled, the construction is typically thick concrete with extra rebar, with 'frangible' roof.
These are located well away from metal forming,
assembly and loading. Remington, I believe, consolidated its ammo mfg to a site in Arkansas.
I had heard of Peters, but was not aware of its
location or history...very interesting.BB-Idahohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01388509941702241290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265043310556240776.post-43308122259451753032013-12-11T05:46:39.045-08:002013-12-11T05:46:39.045-08:00Could be Steve but twenty-six years went by from t...Could be Steve but twenty-six years went by from the time of the explosion till the new brick buildings were put up so my guess is they rebuilt as cheaply and quickly (more wood structures) as possible to get back to production. A couple decades later Peters had massed enough capitol to rebuild the facility in brick. That's a load of bricks! I bet it cost a small fortune even back then.

Also by then smokeless powder was the primary propellent in all small arms cartridges and shotshells so that greatly reduced the risk. recumbent conspiracy theoristhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06534820082655384780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265043310556240776.post-6812807871436228282013-12-07T10:51:34.992-08:002013-12-07T10:51:34.992-08:00Might that explosion be the cause of the original ...Might that explosion be the cause of the original wood building being converted to brick?Steve Ahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13650405341304401203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6265043310556240776.post-71617513769198659222013-12-04T10:20:40.711-08:002013-12-04T10:20:40.711-08:00How NEAT!
